The Airport Police Command at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos has arrested 29-year-old Abraham Akpojisheri from Delta State for possessing 783 MTN Sim cards. Akpojisheri was intercepted while attempting to board a flight to Asaba after arriving from South Africa via TAG Angola airline.
The suspect allegedly brought the sim cards from South Africa, where he purchased them for hacking customer's accounts globally. He used Facebook to contact victims and created multiple emails with foreign names and numbers, convincing them to invest in forex trade. He claimed to have scammed 10 victims in America, earning tens of thousands of dollars.
The police discovered that Akpojisheri has connections with criminals conspiracy cells in Ukraine, South Africa, and Nigeria.
The arrest was made possible through synergy among security agencies at the airport . Akpojisheri will be arraigned in court upon completion of investigation, and efforts are being made to apprehend his accomplices.
The Airport Commissioner of Police, Olufunke Ogunbide, praised the team for rejecting a bribe offered by the suspect and assured that those committing crimes at entry points will face the full weight of the law
